Casino Project - Roulette Wheel Animation
Created using Autodesk Maya 2010 and Adobe Photoshop.
In this project I used a variety of different techniques to make the finished animation above. I applied a mental ray chrome shader to the metal base and handle of which I tweaked using additional maps such as specular and occlusion, furthermore I added gloss effects and reflectivity within the shader. To give it a more realistic impression I introduced a sphere around the roulette wheel, I applied a lambert material with casino surroundings textured onto it which would reflect off the mental ray chrome shader on the base and handle. Once this was completed I felt it needed to be improved further, so I placed four spot lights at equal distance apart around the top of the roulette wheel, two coloured red and two coloured green to accentuate the atmosphere of a casino.
Whilst animating I set multiple physics laws within Maya to ease the animation process, such as gravity, velocity, weight etc... plus I reduced the friction upon the base surfaces and increased the angle/slope of the base.
When finishing I added the depth of field upon the camera, as well as final gather.
